Shots From Japan: Shuri Castle. Naha, Okinawa
The Shureimon (or main gate) of Shuri Castle which served as the Palace of the Ryūkyū Kingdom (until the unification of Japan). The castle has been partially destroyed (and rebuilt) numerous times since it was originally built in the 14th Century. It was briefly occupied by (and also partly destroyed by) the US during WWII in the Battle of Okinawa. It is now an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Kankaimon (or first front gate) to the castle. Built in the late 15th Century, it was burned down by US Troops during the Battle of Okinawa in 1945 but was restored in 1974.

The Throne Room of the Castle.

Honestly, one of the prettiest places I've visited and a must for any trip to Okinawa. These are just a few of my favorite shots from my visit. Hope you enjoy!
