Barcelona enter the 1st leg of their Champions League Quarterfinal with a fully fit squad and star striker Lionel Messi in form, scoring 45 goals in 44 games in all competitions so far this season. PSG will be without a handful of players including their star man Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is suspended for his red card against Chelsea last round. Midfielder Marco Verratti is also out suspended on yellow card accumulation, while defender David Luis is injured. There are also doubts over midfielder Thiago Motta, who is not expected to be fit in time for the game.
PSG are locked with Monaco in a battle for the Ligue 1 title, and the French outfit are currently looking for a quadruple in league, domestic super cup, cup, and Champions League crown. The stats look slightly stacked against them, having scored 41 less goals while conceding 13 more than their Spanish rivals so far this season in all competitions. Ibrahimovic also accounts for 28 of those 95 goals.
Barcelona, on the other hand, look strong even after dropping points over the weekend to allows title rivals Real Madrid to within 2 of the top. Their Copa del Rey Final against Atheltic Bilbao gives them the best chance for a treble this season.
Prediction: PSG were always the underdog coming into this one, but now they’re missing too many pieces to really put up a fight.
