1990's Billboard #1 hits - Mariah Carey - Vision of Love

Mariah Carey, at her best, was one of the sexiest most talented women on the planet. She had one of the most incredible voices that came out of the 90's. Too bad that now she is married to someone like Nick Cannon.

Celebrity Product Taste Test: Mariah Carey's New "Butterfly" Drink
First, I know what you're thinking, and it's probably "I didn't even know Mariah Carey had her own drink!" I found out from a friend who called specifically to tell me because she knew I would find it amusing. Among my friends, I am known for my notorious soft spot for awkward celebrity-endorsed products, and Mariah's off-brand Vitamin Water - named after her mid-90s album 'Butterfly' - is no real exception. "Who would even buy it?" She laughed, and I could practically hear her cynical eyeroll through the phone. I would. I would buy it. And this morning, I rolled into Walgreens in my pajamas, and I did. And now I am going to taste test this stuff for all of you, judging packaging, price, and taste on a 5-point scale. Because Mariah Carey has a five-octave range, and I'm a clever human being. Anyway. Cue my obligatory Mariah jam, "Up Out My Face", and let's get this started. The Packaging: 3/5 Firstly, being comfortable with going to Walgreens only to buy a 'melodic beverage inspired by the magic of Mariah Carey' was the emotional hurdle you would probably expect. The bottle is covered with butterflies and extremely pink. (So basically, if you really want to embarrass your boyfriend the next time you send him to the grocery store for tampons, make sure you tell him to pick you up a bottle of Butterfly too.) The description on the back of the bottle tells little of the drink's actual flavor, and instead is filled with enough cheesy Mariah metaphors to make you want to quit while you're ahead. And I quote: "BUTTERFLY gives everyone something new to sing about. Let this melodic blend of sophisticated sweetness lift you to your high notes every day that you pamper yourself with a sip of Butterfly inspired by Mariah Carey." It is nice that Mariah was able to find new work for whoever helped her write the script for 'Glitter'. I guess. The Price: 5/5 (99ยข per 16-ounce bottle) While I would probably best compare this drink to Vitamin Water, it actually sells for much cheaper. When I was at Walgreens, it was labeled as 99 cents, but when I went to actually buy it, there was an additional 20 cents taken off when she scanned it. 79 cents for a 16-ounce beverage? (Don't let Mariah's champagne glass in the above picture fool you, this stuff is selling cheaper than bottled water!) The Taste: 2/5 I was pretty thirsty on the ride back home, so while I wanted to wait to try this fairly, I stole a sip while waiting at a red light. THIS DRINK IS SO SWEET. They really weren't kidding when they used the phrase 'sophisticated sweetness'. It tastes like someone melted down a couple bags of strawberry Jolly Ranchers and mixed it into water with that cotton candy body spray I used to wear in junior high. I am already a huge sugar wimp as it is. I usually have to dilute apple juice or lemonade whenever I buy it because it always seems to run too sweet. So the fact that this drink was so much sweeter than normal made my stomach instantly feel a little sick. To its credit, I think some people would like this if it were either heavily diluted or splashed into a sparkling white wine or vodka-based cocktail. I would imagine it would give alcoholic drinks a taste similar to Nuvo. (Not to mention, it's a pretty similar color.) Overall Score: D (66%) This drink is bogus. But I suppose if you're looking for a cheap mixer for your Mariah Carey at the Colosseum pre-gaming party this summer, you're pretty much set.
Confessing Your Love with Classic 00's Pop
With all these flash mob engagement videos going around, it has got me wondering why more people aren't using this style when it comes to asking a girl to the movies or finding a prom date?! This is a fool-proof way to confess your love! Do it now!! 1. BBMak - Back Here There will never be anything more romantic than BBMak's Back Here. Nothing. You will melt hearts from the very first line. 2. 98 Degrees - I Do Super cheesy and super smooth, you can't go wrong with Nick Lachey & co's "I Do (Cherish You). Make sure you have the hoop earrings in both ears. It's all part of the package. 3. N'Sync - I Promise You The best part of this is even if you panic and stop singing, your audience will pick up the slack for you. No one can resist singing along with this chorus. 4. Savage Garden - Truly Madly Deeply How can you think of a 90s pop song and not think of Savage Garden!? Guaranteed your crush will want to stand with you on a mountain. (Shout out to "I Knew I Loved You" - I could only put one of you on the list!) 5. Backstreet Boys - I Want it That Way If the object of your love is not jumping into your arms before you hit this chorus you need to find another crush. This one clearly isn't worth it. This is arguably one of the best love song in history (coming from a serious Backstreet Boys fan...) so people who don't appreciate it don't deserve to be loved. 6. Enrique Iglesias - Hero Best way to get anyone to fall in love with you: look like Enrique Iglesias. If you can't: sing like him. 7. Avril Lavigne - Sk8ter Boi I don't care how you do it, but taking a few minutes to change the lyrics to Sk8ter Boi will win anyone's heart. Or at least mine. Call me. 8. A-Teens - Can't Help Falling in Love This doesn't need an explanation. Bonus points if you can get the choreography down too. 9. S Club 7 - You'e My Number One I am smiling like an idiot right now just listening to this song. It's catchy, sweet, and fun. S Club 7 can seriously do no wrong. They won't let you down.

Here at KpopINT we will look back on Kpop artists from the past and some things that may have been trending in South Korea back in the day. Imma get it cracking by admiring a few guy groups that opened up doors for the groups and Kpop artists that we love today. This was a 3 member group. Back in the early 90's 3 memeber groups were popular. The members of this group were Seo Taiji, Yang Hyun-suk and Lee Juno. They were know for working with an array of different genres. This group was way before their time. Many songs they created made many people upset (parents) due to having heavy influences from gangsta rap and rock music which was very popular during this time in America. Some songs were called unfit due to the lyrics and screaming in the background. Keep in mind this was during the time politicians were pushing for parental advisory labels and blaming music for the wild behaviors of the youth. Source "Come Back Home" by Seo Taiji and Boys This song was a huge hit in 1995. This song has a huge influence from American gangsta rap which was hot back in the USA during this time. 1993: Deux ( ๋“€์Šค) This was a two member group (1993-1995). They were a well known Korean hip hop group back in the day. These guys hard work was helpful in building what we know as Kpop today. Kpop is not just pop music per se, but it has influences from other genres. The members are Lee Hyun Do and Kim Sung Jae. These two had major influences in the dance and fashion world as well. Source "Turn Around and Look at Me" was a hot song introduced in 1993. You can look at tell how their style as influenced today's Kpop artists. 1996- 2001H.O.T. (์—์ด์น˜์˜คํ‹ฐ) They were also known as High-five of teenagers. This was a group of 5 guys. This group was under SM. They were very popular and were the first group in Kpop to produce an album that was brought in a million dollars. Source "We are the Future" by H.O.T. This was another number 1 hit for this group. This song was released in 1998. Wow look at the difference in fashion and technology! 1999- present Fly to the Sky (ํ”Œ๋ผ์ด ํˆฌ ๋” ์Šค์นด์ด) This is a two member group under the SM umbrella. Unlike the other groups mentioned in this card this group is still active according to sources. Brian Joo and Hwanhee are the members of this group. Brian is American and Hwanhee is from Korean. That itself represents the merge of two different cultures. One big thing about older groups that still are active today is that they all learn to evolve and remake themsleves. This is exactly what this group has done. They were more into techno and very pop like music in the past. However, later in their music journey they began producing more R&B music. Source "Sea of Love" was released in 2002. I couldn't find any older m/v of them! I'm so sorry!
