Sir Bradley Wiggins is a four-time Olympic champion and 2012 Tour de France winner. Next, he will attempt to break the hour record at the Lee Valley VeloPark, formerly the Olympic Velodrome, on June 7th.
The current hour record is 52.491km, set by the Australian Rohan Dennis in February after the UCI, cycling’s world governing body, reformed the regulations, reigniting interest in the event.
Tickets to the event went on sale at 10am last Friday, and sold out in only seven minutes. The tickets were priced between £29 and £49 with capacity of 6000 at the arena.
The Lee Valley VeloPark manager Jeremy Northrop said: “We haven’t seen tickets sell out so fast since London 2012. Everyone remembers the magic of that year, and this idea of seeing Sir Bradley go flat out for an hour is something that really captured the public’s imagination.”
It should be incredible entertaining to watch, so get ready for June 7th to roll around!
