[21st-Apr-15] Daily Rumour Mill
After a shocking 6-1 pouncing by Bayern Munich in the Champions League, here's a look at the news and rumours making headlines in the papers today.
1. Yaya Toure has said no amount of money could keep him at a club that didn't want him and that he doesn't want to play for. (Source: http://www.footmercato.net/premier-league/transferts/info-fm-psg-inter-milan-man-city-yaya-toure-lache-ses-4-verites_152275)
2. Manchester United may be able to breathe easier in relation to David De Gea as Real Madrid scouted Stoke City keeper Asmir Begovic. (Source: http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/572006/Asmir-Begovic-Real-Madrid-transfer-news)
3. Former Chelsea and Liverpool boss, Rafa Benitez who currently manages Napoli, could return to the Premier League once again to manage Manchester City. (Source: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/437813/EXCLUSIVE-Liverpool-Chelsea-boss-Rafa-Benitez-open-INTERIM-role-Man-City)
4. Scott Sinclair has announced he wants to permanently sign for Aston Villa in the summer. (Source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3049279/Scott-Sinclair-definitely-wants-sign-permanently-Aston-Villa-summer.html)
5. Former Liverpool and current Atletico Madrid forward Fernando Torres has said captain Steven Gerrard is the best play he's ever played with. (Source: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/fernando-torres-hails-steven-gerrard-5560347)
My Thoughts:
1. He's edging himself more and more out of the City picture for next season. Expect him gone, Italy could be the destination.
2. Begovic has been a class keeper for the past 2-3 seasons. Really brilliant signing for Stoke.
3. Would be a good fit but I doubt how much he or anyone can get from an aging squad and a club that needs to tighten its finances.
4. No surprise Sinclair's enjoyed his stay at Villa despite their struggles. He's getting something he didn't have at Man City in the form of playing time.
5. To be fair there were a ton of quality players on that Liverpool side Torres was a part of that won the Champions League. Gerrard was a top player in those years too.

Toure's definitely gone.

@CitySarajevo As is Benitez. Napoli started well and fizzled out.

@GermanBumbleBee A very good point. Would imagine he'd relish the opportunity to manage in the Premier League again at City.

@Spudsy2061 I don't know if I'd want Benitez.
