A donut or a piece of cake for breakfast everyday can actually result in weight loss. Researchers from Tel Aviv University have found that eating dessert with breakfast — cookies or cake — can help dieters lose more weight. However the results have been controversial. The reason being during the study, participants ate strict low-calorie diets, men - 1600 calories and women - 1400 calories. It was rationalized that a high in protein breakfast will cause you to have fewer cravings later in the day and hence thereby causing you to eat less. The success of diets lies in the timing and composition of the meals. A high protein breakfast reduces hunger, the addition of carbohydrates increases satiety and the sweet dessert cut down on cravings. Hence it is still necessary for us to watch what we eat so that we do not over eat sweet food in the morning, which could result in reverse effect instead!
