Will Smith For President?
It seems that Kanye West isn't the only one in Hollywood making eyes at the potential of kickstarting their own presidential campaign. In a recent interview on the Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter podcast, 'Fresh Prince' Will Smith did some not-so-subtle hinting that he, too, sees the White House in his future.
"As I look at the political landscape, I think that there might be a future out there for me. They might need me out there [...] So I'm feeling that at some point, in the near future, I will have to lend my voice to the conversation in a somewhat different way." Apparently, a career of saving America from the aliens and/or inevitable apocalypse has gotten a bit dull to the A-List actor, and his ambition is moving him into a whole new direction:
"I'm a climber, so if I see a mountain, I have to climb it. So I think, at this point, I'm elevating my ability to be useful in the world. I think that that's what my grandmother always hoped, that I would make myself useful to people in this lifetime."
This one has me thinking. Willow and Jaden was the presidential kids? His actress/rockstar wife, Jada Pinkett, as the First Lady of our nation? (Man, that would make one hell of a reality TV series. "The Smiths Go To Washington", anybody?) So, what do you guys think? Would you vote for Will Smith for POTUS?
Personally, I'd only do it if he intended on making Carlton Banks his Vice President.
