Leave it to the brand name marketing behemoths to trick consumers into spending hundreds of dollars for skin care products that are just hype. I prefer to find inventive ways of getting my skin to stay youthful naturally--and without breaking the bank to do so.
I came across a recipe for a facial mask using fresh squash, honey and sour cream. Try to avoid the canned squash because it's loaded with additives and you can bet the natural vitamins and enzymes are cooked out, making it virtually useless.
You will need:
1 squash (to yield 1/4 cup)
1 tpsp honey
2 tbsp sour cream
In a food processor, cream the squash and put 1/4 cup into a bowl. Add the honey and sour cream and mix until incorporated. Pour into a resealable jar and keep refrigerated. This will expire after 10 days.
Apply to the face:
Grab just enough to cover your face, avoiding your lips and eye area. Leave on for no more than 15 minutes as this may cause irritation to the skin. Using warm water, remove and apply a gentle moisturizer and sun screen to protect your skin.
