I was re-watching My Big Fat Greek Wedding the other day, and when everyone was panicking that the pride needed cover up for her zit and they pulled out a big stick of concealer, I suddenly got so curious about what concealer that was.
Thanks to the ingenious web page Born Unicorn, I found out: it's Max Factor Pan Stick. Another one I had been dying to know: what lipstick is Audrey Hepburn putting on in the cab in Breakfast at Tiffany's? Estee Lauder lipstick, probably in the shade Mocha Pink. Score!!
This is what the voice of Born Unicorn has to say about the project to catalog beauty products from movies and TV shows:
"The presence of beauty products, accessories, make-up and perfumes in TV shows and movies is known as product placement, but the line dividing blatant advertising and the need for props in a production is sometimes extremely blurred. I personally see it as a form of art, the way in which property masters and set decorators contribute in establishing a certain atmosphere and in expressing the personality of characters."
A few of my favorite product spots (that I might actually try):
1. Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson) uses Clinique Different lipstick in Raspberry Glacé (aqua green casing) in Lost in Translation.
2. Paulette Bonafonte (Jennifer Coolidge) holding a Clinique green marbled foundation compact in Legally Blonde.
3. Jenna Rink (Jennifer Garner) putting some Chanel lipstick on in 13 Going on 30.
4. Audrey Hepburn putting on Estee Lauder lipstick, probably in the shade Mocha Pink in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
