Let's not over-complicate things, getting started is EASY! Starting with your basic dress, like this H&M striped number, you will also need some leather, a glue gun (and glue stick), a standard universal sewing machine, scissors, and leather-grade finishing thread.
Cut out the leather pockets to measure to 5 1/2 x 7, or any size you like. Tack the underside of the leather to where you want it on your dress. DON'T USE PINS because the leather will be damaged.
Using your sewing machine--threaded with leather-grade thread--simply top-stitch along the sides and bottom of the pocket. Unlike fabric, leather doesn't need to be folded under.
