How To Make Sofrito
You’ve probably seen a jar of red or green sofrito hanging out at one of your major supermarket’s “ethnic” or “Hispanic” aisle. Excited, you rush home to open the jar of sofrito you just bought. It smells good. But I promise you that sofrito can taste and smell so much better than the processed stuff. Sofrito is a base ingredient used in a lot of Latino foods. It is used in foods like rice, beans, stews, and soups. They go by different names all over the world, and they mostly have the same idea -- it’s a base and an important ingredient to many traditional dishes. I’ve mentioned sofrito before in some of my recipes, today I will teach you how to make fresh, homemade sofrito.

What You’ll Need

1 green bell pepper, remove seeds 1 red sweet pepper, remove seeds 1 sweet onion 1 head of garlic 1 bunch cilantro leaves 1 tablespoon of salt ½ cup of olive oil

How To Make It:

Chop all of your vegetables into chunks. Add your chopped vegetables, cilantro, olive oil, and salt into a food processor. Process until the desired consistency. That’s it! Now you know the secret ingredient to some of the best Latino dishes.
