Yesterday Jay-Z released his first playlist off his new music platform Tidal. While the list had many of obvious mainstream hits (“Truffle Butter” by Nicki Minaj, “Know Yourself” by Drake, etc.) Jay-Z made sure to rep emerging artists and songs in the underground scene on his playlist as well. This is a strong move from many reasons. For Tidal it shows Jay-Z has his ear to the streets and stays hip to rising artists. For Roc Nation, it extends an olive branch to new talent that may be looking for a big management firm to represent them. Below are five songs awesome songs hip-hop fans should checkout that are on Hov’s Tidal Playlist:
1-Vince Staples - Senorita
2-Belly - No Option
3-Lion Babe - Treat Me Like Fire
4-Post Malone - White Iverson
5-Kehlani feat. Chance The Rapper - The Way
I am so into Kehlani right now!
I FEEL LIKE SUCH A NOOB. I love hip-hop too, but I'm more of a late 80s/early 90s hip-hop girl. Like The Pharcyde's Bizarre Ride II is probably one of my favorite albums of all time.
@beywatch gotta check into that some, but the Belly I am referencing in the post is apart of The Weeknd in-house team.. really talented guy as well. This song is apart of his new mixtape, which features Travis Scott, Weeknd, French Montana and more. Check it out, its dope!
@sjeanyoon I dig Kehlani as well, her last album was amazing! She went on tour with G-Eazy last year.. I dont know if you are familiar with his music, but if not check him out, he's dope as well
Isn't Belly some sort of 90s grunge band?
