The new musical “Ever After” premiered at the Papermill Playhouse in New Jersey and critics aren’t too happy with it yet.
The new adaptation is full of broadway starts. I was even impressed with the list. Veterans like: Margo Siebert (Cinderella, Fiddler on the Roof), Tony Sheldon (Pricilla, The Producers) and Christine Ebersole (Steel Magnolias, Applause). So I had high expectation for the musical.
But this adaptation of the 1998 film starring Drew Berrymore seems lavish and full of beautiful costumes, some are suggesting it missed the mark on the plot and songs.
I wonder if the musical version of the film too much to work with. The Cinderella theme has appeared many times on broadway, and I can see this musical is just part of the overkill.
@danidee hahaha I see the connection! It’s actually a really cute movie!
I had no idea they adapted this into a musical! I loved this movie. Maybe because Cinderella's name was Danielle in it! (Personal bias hahaha.)
