Even though Short Term 12 is a couple of years old (I think it was released in 2013), I try to take every opportunity to talk about it. Describing this movie is hard but I'll try. Essentially, it's about a group of 20-somethings that work at a treatment facility for at-risk youth.
But after watching the film, it's about so much more than that. The acting goes above and beyond a lot of what I've seen, to the point where I felt like I could have been watching a documentary.
It's emotional, it's heartbreaking, and it's beautiful. I don't know what else to say. Check out the trailer below and let me know what you think!
I’ve seen this movie (it’s on Netflix I’m pretty sure). I REALLY enjoyed it, I especially the main female character and how she related to the kid’s struggles.
@caricakes Yeah, definitely. The movie quickly subverted the expectation of what the actual plot was going to be about. The new guy acted as our window into the world of the film without having it be about just one person
@caricakes sometimes you can find those gems on Netflix and it makes your entire life. Well done recommending this one, Netflix!
I was totally (embarrassingly) a Brie Larson fan in middle school so I love seeing her act, and act well. I really thought this movie was going to center around the new guy more but I love how it ended up being about a lot more than that. I cried like a baby too @paulisaverage @nicolejb and have definitely watched it more than once. I think I saw it on some list of movies on Netflix you NEED TO SEE and for once I wasn't let down hahaha
This sounds great. I feel like Brie Larson is becoming such a versatile actress to boot. I'll have to zip over to Netflix to see if I can find it.
