Sony recently announced that the rights to the character had been released, which means we'll seem him in the MCU proper when Captain America: Civil War premires next year. Peter Parker's origin story has been done twice in the last ten years (played by Toby McGuire and Andrew Garfield). Fans are clamoring for something different.
Aftre years of white chracte6rs dominating superhero movies (while heroes like Warmachine, Falcon, and Nick Fury are often relegated to the sidelines as coaches or sidekicks), fans feel, rightly so, that they deserve more diverse representstion from one of the biggest franchises of all time. Some have asserted that introducing Miles Morales would be a good step in this direction (a recent addition to the comics pantheon, Miles is a young black Hispanic boy who dons the Spider-Man persona). Other fans have suggested racebending the character of Peter Parker, presenting him as a man of color instead of white. Either move would be a step in the right direction, especially since the release date for the Black Panther movie has been pushed back to make more space for the addition of Spider-Man in the MCU. I'd like to see Monica Rambeau on screen, and I'm not the only one. Marvel has a serious representation problem, and it's definitely time they atarted addressing it. We shouldn't have to wait several more years for an MCU movie that doesn't star another white guy named Chris.

@shannonl5 Personally, I would love for them to expand on the roles of war machine, Falcon, etc. I really like War Machine AND Don Cheadle. I really hope that he gets his own story, and own movies. I dont know... I am a big fan of both, and would really love to see him in his own right.
@Goyo I would really love that too. I secretly hope that Civil War is just Sam and Rhodey hanging out and complaining but the dumb fight their buddies are in.
