Working out is hard. Sticking with it is harder. Here's what I found makes it easier. If I can do them, anyone can. In the immortal words of Eric Cartman, "Beefcake! Beefcake!!!!" Featuring South Park

The hardest part of going to the gym is just getting there. If you have to sleep in your workout clothes, then do it. Don't make excuses, just convince yourself for the 10 minutes it takes to get out the door and you will work out.

2. Try to eat before hand.

You probably shouldn't eat a bucket of KFC, but still... I know it's not always possible, especially in the morning, but I always feel more energized for the gym after I eat. Something small is good so you don't feel over-encumbered while running or whatever.

3. Don't be afraid to look like an idiot.

Working out is going to look stupid, whether you're lifting weights or running on a treadmill, you're going to be self conscious. Nobody looks cool doing those wonky machines. Everyone is doing the exact same thing you are. Just think about that and do your thing.

4. Rock Out!

I was in the gym alone the other day and I was listening to the Libertines album, Up The Bracket. It's one of my favorites. I was jogging on the treadmill feeling pretty tired and I just focused in on the song that was playing. I started bopping my head and dancing along a bit. It didn't matter that I was working out, I was having fun.

5. Take the time to do things right.

I know we all just want to get our hour in and get out, and I am guilty of rushing through things; especially the machines. I've learned that you get a way better workout and it doesn't take that much extra time to do things right. Adjust the machines to fit you properly, take your time and do slow, consistent reps.

6. If music doesn't work, find something else to distract you.

You can watch netflix on your phone while you bike, play games or read while you work out. You can find an app for just about anything. Get on Vingle while you are on the stationary bike, or check tumblr while you walk on the treadmill. Simple as that! Time flies.

7. Set Manageable Goals

We all want to be fit and cool, but it takes time. I only started working out consciously a few weeks ago, and it's hard. Some days you just don't want to, but if you set a modest goal it's impossible to fail. Try and work out like 3 times a week to start. If you can keep that commitment for a few weeks, then up the ante. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither were you.

8. Remember, there are much worse things you can do with your time and be proud of that!

You're making the conscious decision to try and improve. That is half the battle. So be proud of your work!
I make a reeeeally awesome gym playlist so that I'm super excited to hit the elliptical and dance haha
Getting there is the hardest part! I go in the mornings and I literally sleep in my gym clothes so I have less time to convince myself not to get in the car and drive to the gym!
Haha funny post. Yeah, it's getting to the gym that's the hard part. A banana and LOADS OF CAFFEINE help me get through an unwanted workout :) :)
