Today's verse comes from one of the great collaborations: Broken Bells, which consists of James Mercer of The Shins and Danger Mouse, who has been all over the music scene in the last 10 or so years (including projects with Cee-Lo Green, Beck, The Black Keys and more).
The song is "The High Road," the hit from their self-titled 2010 debut (and only full-length album).
"The dawn to end all nights
That's all we hoped it was"
The song deals pretty directly with depression and suicide, but this line offers a glimpse of hope. The narrator of the song seems to helping someone with their troubles, leading to this optimistic phrase. This bright, new dawn will end all nights -- all dark and hidden troubles will be swept away by the promise of a fresh day.

Oh man, this album was my jam back in the day. Dangermouse and James Mercer was a dream collaboration in the making. Although I feel like their later albums sort of turned into if someone designed a Shins album for a dentist office waiting room. As decent as Broken Bells is/was, I prefer James in the Shins, but I feel like that's not really a novel opinion. I'm sure most of his fans feel that way.
