Every woman in the working world needs a great suit, pencil skirt, trousers, and other workwear staples. But that doesn't mean you can't have fun with your workwear! For those of you who don't work in a place where it's appropriate to show a lot of skin, or in an office environment where button-up blouses are necessary, you can still freshen up your look by relying on a crazy and unexpected print! If you're looking to liven up a basic blouse and trouser combo, or want a fun print peaking out from under your go-to blazer, shop my picks of adorably printed blouses below.
This blouse from NastyGal may look silly, but imagine tucking it into a sleek pencil skirt and pairing with heels for an unexpected work look? Maybe don't wear it with those puffball earrings, but I guarantee that paired with some tailored black office staples, you'll be totally work appropriate and still cute.
We've got a bit of an animal theme going on, but I'm into it. Add some whimsy to your office ensemble with this blouse from Zara. It's almost the classic white button-down, but definitely more fun.
Add a pop of color with the bird print on this blouse from ASOS. The fit is classic, so wear it how you want, with navy trousers and a blazer, or tucked into a skirt. Another brighter bird shirt here, from Zara.
The heart print on this top from H&M is an adorable twist on a basic polka dot. Wear it with pants or masculine tailoring to keep it from going saccharine-sweet.
Another adorable animal print on this blouse, from Anthropologie.
Show off your love for fashion with this blouse from Forever 21. Your office may not be the runway, but you can still subtly let your coworkers know how much you care.
Who could be offended by butterflies? This blouse from Zara's delicate pattern is definitely work appropriate, so long as none of your coworkers has a serious bug phobia.
The scribbles on this Cheap Monday blouse from Nastygal are fun without overpowering the shirt. Make sure to wear a cami underneath for work (it's a little sheer), tuck it in to a pencil skirt or trousers, and you already look far from stuffy without being inappropriate.
If you want to experiment with print, but find these options just a bit too bold, try plays on stripes and polka dots, and build up your workwear print confidence!
Some of these are a little ridiculous to me but I love the hearts and the smaller red animal prints!
I LOVE PATTERNED SHIRTS. I feel like they're the only way I can really express myself when I'm getting all dressed up for work. The Cheap Monday and H&M polka hearts are my favorite in this one. (Although I secretly wish the one with all the dogs on it was on sale.)
@galinda some of these are bold for sure; I tried to include a range depending on how brave you are or how crazy you're willing to get haha.
