When I tell you that this show airs on TV Land, you're going to think - TV Land, isn't that that the channel that just plays reruns of The Brady Bunch and The Andy Griffith Show? Well, it used to be. In the last few years, TV Land has attempted to transform its brand, now hoping to appeal to a younger demographic. It's newest show Younger, is doing just that.
Younger follows Liza Miller, a 40-year-old mother, who pretends to be a 26-year-old in order to get a job in the publishing industry. After landing a job, she immediately befriends several twenty-somethings, including Kelsey Peters (played by Hilary Duff!!!!) and Josh, a very handsome younger man. Attempting to balance her 40- and 26-year-old self obviously proves challenging and makes for an entertaining show.
If the intriguing plot doesn't convince you, let me just show you a picture of Josh...
I was not expecting this picture to be so huge, but you're welcome.
The main character, despite her age, is pretty relatable for me and most twenty-somethings, balancing her career and her relationships, oftentimes unsuccessfully. As a 22-year-old living in New York City, I not only understand plenty of the situations she winds up in, but appreciate the humor that the show's writers bring to them.
While the sitcom is not necessarily "quality TV", it's light-hearted, fun and only thirty minutes, so really what do you have to lose?
