My favorite part of weddings is cocktail hour. It's that warm invigorating feeling that I love that happens right after the nuptials and just before the reception begins. The energy is frenetic, free-spirited, and everyone is giddy with excitement, catching up with old friends, meeting new people...
To capture that feeling best, I want to share with you the Honey Sidecar. It's both rustic and assertive, which is achieved by combining freshly squeezed lemons with cognac. The coloring shifts from an ochre to a sheer honey.
1 oz. cognac
1/2 oz. fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/2 oz. honey syrup (equal parts honey dissolved in water)
1/2 oz. triple sec
Lemon twist, for garnish
Shake all ingredients except lemon twist in a shaker with ice.
Strain into a chilled, sugar-rimmed martini glass.
Garnish with lemon twist.
Crazy easy. Fabulously delicious. An instant triumph. More of my wedding cocktails can be seen here.
