I just tried this product for the first time, and I have to say – I'm in love!! It's the first time I've tried a Barney & Co. nut butter, and I was not disappointed. I spread it on some of my favorite Mary's Gone Crackers, but it would be delicious paired with apple slices, raw broccoli, or a slice of toast!
For those of you hardcore almond butter fans out there, you know there's usually a bit of stirring involved (okay, sometimes a LOT of stirring). This particular blend of almond butter didn't need nearly as much elbow grease as I'm used to; when I opened it, there was a more liquid-y layer on top, which took about a minute of moderate stirring to blend completely with the denser layer below. But it wasn't like some nut butters, which separate almost completely into two distinct layers of oil and ground nuts; I can't stand those, because I always get oil EVERYWHERE when I mix them. This had enough room in the container to stay firmly within its boundaries as I mixed it to the desired consistency.
A mostly smooth consistency, with whole flaxseeds adding a subtle texture, this butter has the perfect "lightly sweet" touch of honey. Overall, it's a more liquid texture than some denser butters, but it works. It's peanut-free, gluten-free, and has only five ingredients: blanched roasted almonds, flaxseeds, palm fruit oil, organic cane sugar, and powdered honey. Although I'm not a big fan of the added sugar, sometimes you gotta take a little bit of the bad with the good. Because if it tastes great, I'm more likely to eat it, right?? And of course, 2g of sugar per serving is nothing compared to the 6g of protein, 4g of fiber, and 4.7g of Omega-6 Fatty Acids. Plus, even a small serving size (2 tablespoons) packs in 20% of your recommended daily value (DV) of magnesium, 35% of your DV of Vitamin E, 8% DV of calcium, and 8% DV of iron. So many good things in one snack!!
I definitely recommend this as an awesome almond butter, even for those who are afraid they might not like this sort of thing. The touch of sweetness, nutty flavor, and overall amazing healthiness is sure to amaze you!!

Wow, there must be a pretty awesome amount of flaxseed in there for there to be almost 5 grams of omega-3s in there. This sounds like a perfect supplement to my everyday diet. I try to eat as anti-inflammatory as I can (usually 6 - 9 grams of omega-3s a day due to joint pain), and it's usually extremely difficult. I should probably be eating much more flax foods, and this sounds like the most delicious way to start. Also, raw broccoli and almond butter? That's an unexpected combination to me, but I'm sooo willing to try it.
@danidee Ouch, I hope your joint pain isn't too tough to deal with! :/ I send hugs. Flaxseed is amazingly versatile – dipping raw broccoli in this almond butter is just one way to add it into your diet (that was inspired by my mom's habit of eating raw broccoli with peanut butter, by the way. It's not bad!!) I love to throw a handful of whole flax seeds (or even a capful of flax oil!) into smoothies. It's not all that noticeable, and you can put it into any type of smoothie, which means – variety! :)
@Nisfit I'm so glad! It's delicious. A bit expensive, but I'm willing to splurge on healthy, delicious eating :)
