Empanadas can be made with ground beef, and thus you may tell me, "Aly it's sort of like a cheeseburger empanada!" I am telling you that it is not. It's just a beef empanada. Ok!!! I am going to give you a life-changing recipe that gives your that real cheeseburger experience in an empanada.
What You'll Need
1 pack ground beef 1/3 red onion (finely chopped) Pickles (finely chopped) 3 Tablespoons of Ketchup 1 Tablespoon of mustard 2 Tablespoons of mayonnaise Bacon (finely chopped) Garlic powder Vegetable oil American cheese 2 Packs frozen empanada discs Salt Pepper
How To Cook It:
Use a pan. With a bit of vegetable oil, cook ground beef over medium heat. Add ketchup, mustard, mayo, onions, pieces of cooked bacon, garlic powder, salt & pepper. Cook until beef is browned. Drain an excess liquid/fat. Place meat mix (about 2 tablespoons) on one side of the empanada disc. Add a small piece of American cheese. Add chopped pickles. Fold one side of the empanada and close it. To close the empanada, crimp edges with a fork to seal empanada. Add vegetable oil to a pan. Make sure it's hot, medium-high heat. Cook each side for about 3-4 minutes. They can burn easily, so pay attention! Fry until golden brown. :)
