Hair SOS: How to Avoid Tangles & Knots

Why knots and tangles are annoying?

Scenario 1: Okay, you hit the snooze button and now you're running 10 minutes late. You run to the bathroom, brush your teeth, wash your face, comb your hair....wait a second, why isn't the comb running through? You still have to style your hair and do your makeup but you're stuck trying to detangle those knots!

Scenario 2: You jump into the shower but as soon as you wet your hair you realize the strands are tangled. Shampoo your hair can be a pain...especially if you have thin, fine hair.

How do you avoid getting your strands tangled?

Solution 1: A simple way to avoid knots is sleeping with your hair tied back into a ponytail or loose braid. It'll save you so much time in the morning and you might even get pretty waves after releasing the braids.

Solution 2: Doing anything to wet hair is asking for damage. This why it's best to brush before you shower. However, if you accidentally wet your hair, use a wide tooth comb to detangle it. This will make the least damage.

You can also keep a hair detangler spray handy for emergency situation. Learn how to make your own hair detangler spray here!

Tangles are the worst. I move around a lot when I sleep, so I always end up with knots on the back of my head.
I just recently started making my own hairspray and I've been using it in the morning to revive my hair.
I have very tight curls and they are prone to dryness. I found for my type of hair, I need to comb it out when it's wet and there is conditioner in it. First I detangle with my fingers, then I use a wide-tooth comb. Combing my hair when it's dry is a disaster and I end up with a lot of breakage.
