Just yesterday Marvel announced that the merchandise for the upcoming Civil War film will have a greater focus on female apparel (that's kind of a low bar, but I discussed why this news was important here and here). While only time will tell if this news is actually good, it's a Friday and this seems like a good excuse to celebrate. Here are my favorite character themed drinks that you should definitely try out (not all at once... unless you're a supersoldier you should drink responsibly).
From nerdsandnomsense, this rum martini has a serious bite (much like the character, whose famous weapons the Widows' Bite finally appeared in Captain America: The Winter Soldier).
Ingredients 1.5oz of Crown Royal Black 1.5oz of Kraken Black Spiced Rum 1tsp of grenadine 2oz of ginger ale Garnish (optional) Ice Instructions Fill a shaker with ice, then add Crown Black and Kraken. Toss in 1 tsp of grenadine to give it a hint of red, and then shake it til the outside is frosted. Pour 2 oz. of ginger ale into a martini glass, then pour your alcohol in using a strainer. You could probably garnish with an orange or lemon twist, or a cherry, but I think this one stands best on its own.
This drink was inspired by the spider, not the character, but the blend of fruit and blanco tequila is both smooth and deadly. I'm sure Natasha would approve.
Ingredients 2 Blackberries 3 Basil leaves 1.5 oz Don Julio Blanco Tequila 1 oz Fresh lime juice 1 tsp agave nectar Garnish: 1 Blackberry and basil leaf Instructions: In a shaker, muddle the blackberries and basil Add the remaining ingredients and fill with ice Shake well and strain into a stemless Martini glass filled with fresh ice Garnish with a blackberry and basil leaf on a toothpick
If you've never had a Moscow Mule, you don't know what you're missing. Spicy and strong, with a vodka base, it's easy to imagine the Black Widow sipping one of these while waiting for a mark. Here's a recipe for an apple flavored version courtesy of sugar and charm.
Ingredients: Apple Cider Moscow Mule Recipe (serves 1) 2 ounces ginger flavored vodka 2 ounces apple cider (store bought or homemade) Juice of 1 small lime wedge Good quality ginger beer to top off (about 1/2 cup or so) Cinnamon to sprinkle Instructions: In a copper mug, add the vodka, apple cider and lime juice. Fill the glass with ice, sprinkle cinnamon over the ice, then top off with ginger beer. Stir well and garnish with an apple slice and cinnamon stick.
