New York hosts plenty of amazing fan conventions during thebyear, but Flame Con is something special. It's the city's first LGBT+ comic convention, celebrating everything about the being a nerdy LGBT fan. If that wasn't enough to convince you to buy one of the remaining tickets (I was pretty much sold by this point), here are a few of the awesome things you'd be missing out on if you don't go:
Cecil Baldwin and Dylan Marron
Aka the lead actors from Welcome to Nightvale. The radio show takes place in the spooky, bizarre town of Nightvale, and it has taken the internet by storm. Fans have been rooting for characters Carlos and Cecil from day one. It's worth it just to hear actor Cecil's sultry voice, or to get a smile from actual ray of sunshine Dylan.
Designing X-Women: Making Superhero Costumes Work! (Panel)
This would be a great panel for artists to attend. Featuring Aimee Fleck (whose art is above), Kevin Wada, Daniel Ketchum, Max Wittert, Tea Fougner, Josh Siegel (Moderator), everyone present really knows their stuff.
Pick up a copy of POWER
This brand new anthology of queer comics is a collaboration by artists from around the world. It's also GeeksOut's first printed book. So cool! This barely covers it, but there's only so much I can say without going. I'll have to report back on all the awesome (heres to hoping it's better than an extra hour in the ball pit).
