The bizarre story of Rachel Dolezal has been sweeping the nation over the past week. The parents of the former president of the Spokane chapter of the NCAAP recently revealed that Dolezal has been pretending to be African American for almost ten years, leaving us all totally bewildered. As always, Jon Stewart responds appropriately and encompasses everything I feel in a concise and amusing segment.
The gist of it is "Whaaaaaaaat?" And I think that's exactly what the gist should be, except maybe he should add a "whyyyyyyyyy?" Not only does this story surprise me, it's pretty hard to understand her reasoning.
Rachel Dolezal attempted to defend herself this morning on the TODAY show.
There are usually two sides to a story, but I have trouble imagining that her side of the story will be taken with any seriousness following the past week's reaction to the event.
I know, it's a shame to see him go, but I'm trying to have faith that Trevor Noah can do a decent job after Jon's gone. He's got big shoes to fill.
The news show that taught me to care about the news... He leaves and now we have NY1 literally reading the paper on air... *Headache*
