Ever since I was a little girl, I felt connected to the sea. Living on the Californian shore, I gre up alongside the Pacific Ocean. I spent an extraordinary amount of time just gazing out over the waves, watching as the tide came in and out.
My mother always told me that I was part fish, because of how I loved to swim, and how I spent as much time as possible swimming and surfing. I felt most like myself in the water, floating along with the current and letting myself be taken by the force of the infinite, majestic waters.
I lose myself underwater, yet somehow I also find myself. I am made better by the ocean, made whole. The worries of landlocked life wash away and all that remains is my truest self, the person I was always designed to be.
