It's been said that if you envision something, you can make it a reality. Now, I'm not saying that you can close your eyes and wish you were 20 pounds lighter, 10 times stronger and BAM, your new persona appears right before your eyes. I am saying, however, if you incorporate a couple of visualization strategies to lose a couple extra pounds, then you can essentially give your mind the power to lose weight.
Portion control, people.
You might have been told from a young age to finish everything on your plate. I know I was. Well, I'm here to tell you something a little different. Trick your mind into thinking you’re eating more by putting your meals on a smaller plate. That way, there's physically no room for that extra scoop of mashed potatoes, or those added calories that you don't need.
Eat until you’re 80% full.
This one is tough especially if you're starving and cannot wait to dive into your meal after a long day at work or school. Try to control your eating habits by taking smaller bites, eating slower and avoiding distractions like TV. You will notice a big difference in the amount of food you're consuming in correlation to the weight you're losing.
Live it up, drink it down.
No, I'm not referring to you chugging an alcoholic beverage. I am, however, encouraging you to sip on water in between meals when you think you might be hungry. Chances are you’re just thirsty or bored. Staying hydrated will give you a sense of fullness and help you curb your cravings.
Out of sight, out of mind.
Clean out your kitchen and get rid of any junk/comfort food to eliminate all temptations. Chances of you thinking about the piece of cake leftover from the bake sale last Saturday will be very slim if it doesn't exist.
