Vince Staples I Agree With You, Ray J Is A West Coast Legend
Last week XXL Freshmen Vince Staples went on the radio show “Real Late with Peter Rosenberg.” While many topics were discussed, one of the topic points was West Coast native Ray J. During the sit down Vince makes a bold statement: that singer Ray J is an icon with sustained influence across music, television and film. Many are aware of his work in the industry, so why isn’t Ray J given his just due by many hip-hop critics?
I think one of the main reasons Ray J doesn’t get his just due is because of the negative press he has received in the past couple of years. One big source was due to the sex film with Kim Kardashian in 2007. With that being said, there has been a lot of positive accomplishments from Ray J. The Cali native grabbed the limelight as a star on “Moesha.” Later in his career, he emerged as a star in the music scene. Ray J has had multiple songs chart near the top of the album charts. His mainstream popularity led to a his own VH1 reality dating show, For the Love of Ray J.
Has Ray J’s success led you to believe that he is a legend in the West Coast music scene?
