You know the drill. You've picked out a super cute dress that is either backless or has cutouts on the back and then you realize that if you wear a bra with it, the whole world will see your bra. And, let's be honest, that is NOT cute. Your friends mentiom that you can wear it without a bra, but that usually doesn't work either for obvious reasons (especially for well-endowed women). Don't worry, there are a few ways you can fix this problem so that you can rock your backless dress without fretting about it.
This video is a great tutorial of how to convert a traditional bra that has a strap across the back to a bra that only goes over your shoulders. The converted bra is basically like a reverse backpack that holds in the girls.
The other option is to sew or glue the bra cups into your dress or top. This requires a little more caution than the above technique but it's totally worth it. All you need to do is cut off all of the straps on the bra so that you are just left with the bra cups. Try on the dress and pin the bra cups in the right location on the dress. Then, dap a little bit of glue on the bra and attach it to the dress in an inconspicuous part, like near the armpit or at the waist. Or you can use a needle and thread of a similar color to the dress and stitch a small line in a hidden area. And voila! Your dress now has its own bra.
@allischaaff it's a double whamy because you can reuse an old bra and fix a very annoying fashion problem all in one!
I never knew there was a good reason to save my old bras! I hope I still have a few in my underwear drawer at home... definitely trying this!!
great idea!! I sewed one of my broken bras into a strapless dress that wouldn't stay up and can't be worn without a bra. so proud :D
@KDramaKPop1015 No problem! I'm glad I could help you out!
Though I don't have a backless dress now, I know that is somewhere down the road. So this video really was helpful! @JordanNash Thanks for posting this video. I will definitely be using this technique in the future!
