Having an itchy scalp can be embarrassing (especially in public), not to mention it's very uncomfortable. Some people who suffer from itchy scalp may also experience hair loss. So, if you’re looking for ways to save money or just want to take a simpler route to getting relief, check out these helpful home remedies for an itchy scalp!

Baking Soda

This kitchen cabinet staple is one of the easiest remedies for an itchy scalp. The exfoliation helps relieves the scalp and control dandruff production. First, rub some olive oil on your scalp to loosen any buildup. Then, make a paste by dissolving baking soda with water. Apply it on your scalp and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Finally, rinse it out.
NOTE: Please make sure to do a patch test on your skin before trying it on your scalp. Some people might be allergic to baking soda.

Avocado & Banana

Your itchy and dry scalp will love this mixture. It's super nourishing and the moisturizing properties makes this a wonderful conditioner. Smash two bananas and one avocado together. Mix it well and apply it to your scalp and hair to moisturize your strands. Leave it on for 30 minutes and rinse thoroughly.

Apple Cider Vinegar

This is another readily available and inexpensive ingredient that helps relieves itchy scalp. Mix 1/4 cup ACV with 1/4 cup water and pour it into a spray bottle. Spray it on your hair and massage it into your scalp. Cover your hair with a towel and let it sit for 15 minutes before washing your hair.

Witch Hazel

You may be familiar with witch hazel in your skincare, but this is also a goodie for hair care. It can be used to calm and comfort itchy scalp. Mix one part witch hazel with two parts water and pour onto your scalp. Massage the mixture into your scalp and let it sit for a 5 minutes before you wash and rinse it out.

Tea Tree Oil

This is my must-have ingredient during summer. The antiseptic property can be used to treat acne, bug bites and (you got it) dry, itchy scalp. Mix 10-20 drops of tea tree oil and 1/2 cup of baby shampoo in a bottle. Use it daily to shampoo your hair focusing on the scalp. An alternative method is mixing 2-3 drops of tea tree oil with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and massage it into your scalp to help unblock hair follicles.
I hope this was helpful to those who suffer from itchy scalps! If you have any questions, please feel free to comment below or message me. :)
