It's official, Peter Parker will not be the man behind the mask in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot. After the conclusion of the Secret Wars storylines, the title will belong to Miles Morales. The Verge reports:\n"Miles Morales will take center stage as the face of the company's relaunched Spider-Man title. The new series will be led by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Sara Pichelli, who created the character in 2011, and will effectively replace the Spider-Man titles that were recently cancelled in the run-up to the event."\nThe Verge cited the recent demands to bring Miles into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the reason behind the decision. However, that doesn't mean we'll be seeing him onscreen any time soon.\nJust last month, producers with Sony said they had no interest in a film starring Miles Morales instead of Peter Parker.\n“The one thing you cannot do, when you have a phenomena that has stood the test of time, you have to be true to the real character inside – who is Peter Parker? What are the biggest effects on his life? Then you can draw in time, and you can consider today’s world in many ways. But to have multiple ones… I don’t know if you remember, but Marvel tried it. And it was almost the end of Spider-Man.” - Avi Arad\nComics Alliance points out that Marvel almost went bankrupt during the period that Arad is referring to, which might have had more to do with the character's near-demise than a few creative choices. With the way Marvel is going now, does it really seem like such a risky decision?
