Nap your way back to the '70s
Look at Crosby, Stills & Nash. Does your dad look anything like these men? I mean, these guys have absolutely nailed the whole dad-rock style thing. Their cooky, bearded (or mustachioed!), proudly graying, Graham Nash is wearing a denim jacket, David Crosby is wearing a polo shirt - it's all there. My father would fit seamlessly into this photo.
He would fit seamlessly, but for the fact that my father is a dreadful musician. However, what he lacks in ability, he makes up for in taste; I owe a lot of my musical knowledge and taste to him (as is true for many of us, I imagine). And, let me tell you: my father loves Crosby Stills & Nash.
In honor of Father's Day yesterday, here's a new addition to the Nap Tracks playlist. If your dad is anything like mine, he probably listened to this stuff growing up; and, if you're anything like I am, you probably took it from him and made it your own, because it's damn good stuff. And its greatest utility could well be in its ability to coax listeners into the most dreamy, lovely nap you've had in some time. It's their unusual ability to rock hard while producing sounds so soft that makes them perfect for the role; it's rock music, no question, but it never seems to cross a certain level of loudness that would make it unpleasant for a nap, or might wake you up in the middle if you were to turn an album on and fall asleep midway through. Oh, and those harmonies.... those harmonies....

"Wooden Ships" is one of their very best songs and perfectly illustrates that unique flavor of rock. There are electric guitar solos that might make you fear sleep in a different circumstance, but it's so smooth and mellow here that its effect is quite the opposite.

"You Don't Have to Cry" is another great one. It's usually what I'll start my nap playlist with when I turn to CSN.

A strange song in a lot of ways, "Guinnevere" has CSN at their harmonic best. This one isn't like some of the others, that balance the rock aspects of the group with softer melodies; this one is all smooth, ballad-style. And oh, man, it's good. "We shall be freeeee......."
There are countless other Crosby, Stills & Nash songs that can (and should) be used to get a nap going. I rely on CSN when I'm headed under for a big nap and don't feel like messing around with anything I'm not ultra-familiar with. There are no surprises with CSN.
So, thanks, Dad, for turning me on to these guys.
And maybe we can photoshop you into that photo, or something.

For me, James Taylor is sleep-worthy...there's a fine line. and it's not in James Taylor's favor hahah
So what you're saying is CSNY is a quick shuteye and James Taylor is hibernation.
something like that, but also maybe more to the tune of "CSN is quick shuteye and James Taylor is...how do I say....not my favorite"
