My "Soundtrack of Life" playlist is finally here! Sorry for the long wait! I have too many favorite songs and couldn't decide what to share, so I broke them down by artist.
Khalil Fong (方大同)
One of my favorite Chinese singer. His music style is very soulful and jazzy compared to the typical Chinese popular music. If that doesn't impress you, he also composes most of his songs. You'll be captivated by his soothing voice and rhythm.
Three of my favorites:
1. Red Bean (紅豆), 2009
2. No Love (愛不來) ft. Miss Ko (葛仲珊), 2014
3. Close To You (千紙鶴), 2012
Wilber Pan (潘瑋柏)
American-born Taiwanese singer (but he also does many other things like composing, acting..etc). On a side note, he was also offered an athletic scholarship for basketball but I'm glad he pursued his dream in the showbiz, otherwise we wouldn't hear him sing.
Snore (打呼) ft. Rainie Yang (楊丞琳)
Eric Chou (周興哲)
Eric Chou is a new composer/singer who just debuted his first album "My Way to Love". I bet you all can't tell he's 19. This breakup song (above) was composed when he was seventeen-year-old after being rejected by his classmate. Another interesting fact about this song is it was chosen for the ending theme of Taiwanese drama "The Way We Were". He's definitely someone to keep an eye out for!
Let’s not be Friends in the Future (以後別做朋友), 2014
Wanting Qu (曲婉婷)
She's a Chinese-born singer/composer/pianist currently residing in Canada. I actually found out about her through the song above and fell in love with her raspy voice.
You Exist In My Song (我的歌声里)
This group debuted in 2004 with their first album Fairyland in Reality (also their band's backronym). The acronym for F.I.R. is taken from their name, Faye, Ian, and Real. In real life, Faye is married to Real. Most of the songs in their album are composed and played by the group. Which is one reason I really enjoy listening to their songs.
Two of my favorites are:
1. I remember, 2014
2. Lydia, 2004
Stefanie Sun (孫燕姿)
She's one of the most soothing singers I know out there. Try listening to her song on a rainy day and you'll know what I mean.
This is one of my favorite song from her album "The Moment":
遇見 (Encounter), 2003
LeeHom Wang (王力宏)
Of course, I have to end with Leehom. For those of you who are mandopop fan, you're probably familiar with his recent works, so I'm sharing you one of my favorite from his earlier "Heartbeat" album.
A Sun That's Been Washed in Spring Rain (春雨洗過的太陽), 2009
That's the end of my list! Thanks for listening. :)
