Lauryn Hill must have heard my cries, because she’s on a roll dropping music as of late.
Just days after Hill dropped her sultry cover of Nina Simone's "Feeling Good," the New Jersey flamespitter has relinquished a snippet of another track titled "I've Got Life," a new gem built around Simone's 1968 single "Ain't Got No, I Got Life."
The snippet clocks in under three minutes but packs plenty of punch (video quality is a bit off, feel free to hit the link with better audio quality.) While Hill went on a hiatus in regards to dropping music of the past couple of years, it’s great to see the emcee hasn’t lost a step. As always, Lauryn gives us plenty of lyrical nourishment, sharing her thoughts on current news issues, the unfair distribution of profits in the music industry and more.
No doubt in my mind that Lauryn is back. Which Nina Simone gem do you want to see her cover next?
