I try hard not to. I promise I do. But I just can't help myself. I'm like an addict who can't quit. So here is my confession, and please don't judge me to harshly until you hear me out...
I totally read the last page of a book before I get to into it.
Stop!! Don't instantly hate me! I know its crazy, that is totally spoils the surprise twists that the authors plan out, and I know Im just completely ruining the reason for me reading the book in the first place.
Except I'm not.
I have to go through this conversation with my friends all the time. Okay, so I am also guilty of goggling the ends of movies which really pisses them off, but I really don't see what the big deal is. Doesn't everyone always say it is the journey that counts, not the destination? So the same goes for books!
Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't like having to stress over whats going to happen while I read the story. Yes, yes "but the tension of not knowing is the greatest part of stories", ... not. It totally distracted me from the actual story line because my brain is trying to rush ahead to solve the ending!
So what if I know who dies and doesn't die, (Ron Weasley I would not have finished the series if you died, I love you)! So what if I know who the killer is? I think it helps give me a better perspective on the book. I catch smaller details that I would have normally skipped over had I not been paying attention. I focus more on how the characters get to their ending, rather then their ending.
Because isn't the ending the least important part anyway? Its all about he twists and turns of getting there. The highs and lows, and all the screw ups in-between. And it isn't like I google the summary of the whole story! I just read the last couple paragraphs...thats not that bad of a crime, is it?
love this!
Once you explain it that way. Go with the journey 😘
