Meet Sally Middletwin (American Version).

For a fun experiment, one of Elle's employees thought she would spice up her life a little bit by dressing like the Duchess of Cambridge. Personally I think this is hilarious because it puts this woman out of her comfort zone literally walking in Kate Middleton's shoes for the week! You know, it's probably nice every once in a while to be someone who you're not. And with help from the fashion editor Danielle Prescod, you can't fail. It's full of surprises, new perspectives, and definitely new experiences. I think it's a nice touch that Middletwin had a fake Cabbage Patch Kid to be her 'Prince George'. Cute.
All Middletwin quotes are directly from her article on ELLE. All Middleton quotes are made up of what I think she would say in her head...all jokes. It's all satirical. hehe.

Ralph Lauren jacket; H&M shirt;, rag & bone jeans; C. Wonder shoes; photoshop husband.
Middletwin: "Kate getting casual is something I can always get behind. Sure, I went for a less buttoned-up look than she did, but standing with the American version of Prince William, I just felt super relaxed."
Middleton: "Oh darling, please button up your jacket. You must keep everything kept in casually tight, of course. I'm not a celebrity, I'm royalty. And please fix your posture, this is not a football game as you Americans seem to love."

Lela Rose dress; Sergio Rossi shoes; Reiss clutch.
Middletwin: "Really, Kate should be recognized for just how great she looks in her clothes. Sure, she probably tries on ten thousand different dresses before she decides on which one to wear to a black tie event like this one, but where I look mom-ish, she makes this off-the-rack Lela Rose number look effing regal."
Middleton: "The dress is simply perfectly matched. You did match everything down to the accessories. It's flattering."

Zimmermann dress; Tory Burch shoes; L.K. Bennett clutch.
Middletwin: "Only Kate Middleton would look this put-together posing next to a surfboard. George and I did not feel quite as at home hanging ten in NYC, and this Zimmermann dress doesn't look quite as beach chic on me as it does on Kate even though we have the exact same surfboard."
Middleton: "You got this all wrong. First of all, we do not carry a clutch to the shore. What is with this lunging business? And a cream color on sand is just atrocious for your coloring. You don't want to look washed out, do you? And I would just like to point out that surfing is very interesting."

Rebecca Taylor dress and jacket; L.K. Bennett shoes and clutch.
Middletwin: "One thing about Kate's clothing choices is that the dresses and shoes she chooses really promote good posture—and it's not just because they're tight on my un-Kate Middleton figure. This Rebecca Taylor suit inspired me to whip out my best royal wave, and though the skirt length is a no-no in the Queen's book, I think I truly brought my royal game with this look. Unfortunately Prince George looks super uncomfortable because its hard to multitask while looking Duchess fierce."
Middleton: "Perfect other than your shoes. And miss, please remember that William will hold the baby, you can't wrinkle your outfit."

Diane von Furstenberg dress; C. Wonder shoes; Reiss clutch.
Middletwin: "The Queen would not be into the length of this Diane von Furstenberg dress. Kate's wrap version sold out in under eight minutes, so this tunic is a close substitute. Unfortunately I feel a bit more Nicky Hilton goes to the Hamptons than Kate Middleton meet-and-greeting in Australia. Bonus: George and I match most excellently."
Middleton: "Such an American adaptation. And could you please rid yourself of that doll?"

L.K. Bennett dress; Sergio Rossi shoes; Saint Laurent clutch.
Middletwin: "When I wore this L.K. Bennett poppy number on the street, two people stopped me to ask about it. "Excuse me, where is that dress from? It looks like..." One woman said. "Yes, Kate Middleton wore it!" I almost shouted back at her triumphantly and very unroyally. This was my favorite dress and made me feel the most lady-like of all of them. So ready to shoot the shit with the Queen over some scones and clotted cream in this pretty getup."
Middleton: "Okay Middletwin, well done."

Middletwin: "#Solidarity"
Middleton: "#NiceTry"

So did Sally Middletwin pull it off?

She did great, though I'd never know these were copies of the Duchess of Cambridge without the side by side pics. Glad you included them. But I wanted to see her in a fancy gown. Surely at least one night a week she has to put on a $75,000 dress! :)
