Resort 2016 Trend: Leather Dresses
As you may know, resort collections are in full swing as designers churn out their mid-collection looks for the holiday season. This resort season, leather rocked the runway as leather dresses ranged from tough to girly to prim and ladylike. Find out how different designers interpreted the trend below.

Alexander McQueen
This season's McQueen is full of florals, embroidered and printed. But what would McQueen be without an edge? Sarah Burton has churned out a rebirth in the form of vampy-yet-breathtaking embellished dresses, and this leather number made the cut.
Edun
Edun's resort collection is full of black and white and leopard and leather. This shift is both modest and insanely cool, with understated studs to give it more pattern than toughness.
Louis Vuitton
Nicolas Ghesquière featured leather ruffles in an unexpectedly feminine note on an otherwise strong silhouette. His floor-length leather gowns are quirky, mixing tough and sweet elements to make unique garments.
Zac Zac Posen
Zac Posen's little sister line is partially inspired by nature, but the materials he uses are anything but organic. Leather and neoprene dominated his runway, and this leather dress is both sweet and dark.
Calvin Klein
Francisco Costa's leather dresses are in line with the ladylike Calvin Klein brand, modest enough to be worn in the workplace but stylish enough to turn heads in the process. The blue leather shift is the most surprising, a color that would be ordinary were it not for the edgy material.
Opening Ceremony
Opening Ceremony played with sharp shoulders and sleeves, finishing off most looks with those bold, round belts. Leather obviously needed to play a role, and this dress is devastatingly pretty with the lattice-cut hem, but still strong.
Novis
Novis was bright and cute with pastels and day-glo colors throughout, but they couldn't resist making a cheerfully-colored leather dress to stand out against black leather everywhere.
Moschino
Jeremy Scott made an ever-kitchy collection for Moschino's resort line, but couldn't finish it without including some leather as well. This chain purse-inspired dress is both ladylike and over-the-top.
