I was going to promise to stop writing about Jon Stewart so often, but that's just not going to happen until August 6, sorry everyone. It seems that I'm not the only one who loves Jon a lot because the Internet has been responding pretty dramatically to his departure, recently creating a timelapse of his years on The Daily Show.
Obviously Comedy Central wouldn't let him go without a proper goodbye. Thank God. Starting today, the network is streaming every episode of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart beginning with his debut on January 11, 1999. You can find this glorious binge-watching opportunity on Comedy Central's website. They've appropriately named this testament to Jon The Month of Zen. I'm crying.
42 days?!? Sorry work, productivity will be at an all time low. Think of all the things that have changed since 1999. All the correspondents who got their start at The Daily Show - Steve Carrell! Ed Helms! John Oliver! All the awesome guests - Martin Scorsese! Robin Williams! I guess I'm obligated to give a shout out to President Obama here as well.
Anyways, the point is, us Jon Stewart fans are going to be really busy this summer. Or at least until August 6 when Comedy Central will stream Jon's last episode and the world as we know it will end. A bit dramatic I suppose, but for the man who has made political satire what it is today, I think its appropriate.
I'll miss you so much Jon, but for now, I'll try to emotionally prepare for your departure with this awesome testament to your career.
