I have a horrible habit of not checking the weather before leaving my apartment in the morning. This makes for some fun days getting my canvas shoes (like Toms) soaked and then being miserable with wet feet for the rest of the day. And let me tell you — wet feet is one of the worst feelings. I don't know about you, but this has happened to me way too many times to count. So here's a solution to my horrible habit and to having wet feet: waterproofing your canvas shoes! This tutorial comes from the wonderful people at Brit + Co.
Purchase some beeswax from the store. You can find beeswax on Amazon or at most hardware stores. Grab your canvas shoes and rub the beeswax all over the shoes. Make sure you don't miss any spots.
Blow dry the beeswax so that it will seal the canvas and not allow any water to soak into your shoes. Make sure you dry the entire shoe and that all of the beeswax is dry. After you blow dry, let the shoes sit for 5 minutes before you wear them.
Don't worry anymore about getting your canvas shoes wet! The beeswax will protect your shoes from water. The beeswax also stiffens up the shoes a little bit, so they might need a little more breaking in.
