Pharrell has another hit on his hands.
This weekend, Skateboard P was tapped to perform at the Glastonbury Festival. The Virginia native reeled off a set full of classics, captivating the audience throughout his performance. Near the back end of the set, the talented emcee blessed fans in attendance by relinquishing a new track he teased on Twitter titled “Freedom.”
Before performing the track, he addressed the crowd. “You see, I don’t care how much money you have in your bank account. I don’t care how rich your family is or where you come from. If you are a human being you need some sort of freedom,” P yelled to the massive crowd. “There always somebody in your life or something in your life trying to chain you down and tell you what you can and cannot do. But tonight, England, we are going to get freedom.”
The track is about breaking free from mental and social restrictions. The crowd was moved by performance, humming the melody after it was finished. Never one to let the fans down, Pharrell let loose an encore performance.
Be on the lookout for this one. The texture of the lyrics and catchy piano loop give this song staying power and replay value.
