Little Heartbreak
I used to want a lot
just to be, for you,
an idle thought
days I'd spend
wishing only
to be maybe more than 'friend'
'But I like men'
you'd say, angry
I'd retort "oh, ok, then"
But men didn't like you
far as I ever saw
always toss you out for something new
I'd be there to take you in
me - I'd sing you lullabies
so beautiful, you left me ruined.
and I don't know why
you meant so much to me
The first poem of the day for the week is delivered to us farm-fresh, based off of Lyric of the Day #21. That lyric comes from Neil Young's classic "Old Man" and here's it is:
Lullabies, look in your eyes,
Run around the same old town.
Doesn't mean that much to me
To mean that much to you"
