Platform heels are so much comfier and easier to walk in than normal heels, because you get the same height while putting your feet in less of an incline. While platforms heels have been in style for a while, wooden heels specifically are perfectly summery and perfectly in line with the 70's trends. The wood makes them more casual than leather or a regular stiletto, and is chunky enough that you don't have to worry about breaking a heel or trying to balance!
Style #1: Strappy sandals
There's nothing more summery than a pair of strappy black leather sandals that will take you from day to night, that you can wear with a pair of cut-offs and an off the shoulder blouse, or to tone down a sweet summer dress. The wooden heel makes them more exciting than a flat but more casual than a pair of regular heels. Get the look here, here, or here.
Style #2: Wooden wedges
Come rain or shine, the wedge is the comfier, easier, but also edgier version of the heel, and a platform wedge makes a statement in wood but is that much easier to walk in. Wedges will also easily translate into colder weather looks come fall, with a pair of tights under if necessary. Get the look here, here, or here.
Style #3: Wooden flatforms
Flatforms are one notch easier than wedges in that your feet aren't at an incline at all. They're even more casual than wooden wedges, but will still dress up a basic t-shirt dress or shorts while giving you a literal boost. Get the look here or here.
And finally: Mules!
Mules are a big trend this summer, and platform mules do exist! Check out my guide here for a complete list of how and where to find them!
To be continued...
I'm not going to lecture you about wooden platform booties just yet, as it's way too hot to think about cramming your feet into a leather cage right about now. Come fall, you'll see platform wooden boots and booties everywhere, too!
