Flashback fashion: cork-soled wedges

Cork-soled wedges have been having their modern moment for a few years now, but did you know they are actually having a comeback from the 30s and 40s? Yep, that's right. Add cork-soled wedges to the list of fashion items that have come back around.
Cork in the sole of shoes was first used in the late 1930s and early 1940s due to economic sanctions of materials during and after WWII. Salvatore Ferragamo, who is credited with inventing the wedge, improvised during the economic sanctions and found that cork worked really well as a material for the sole of wedges. Thus, the cork-soled wedges trend was born. The cork material was also incredibly lighter than other materials that had been used in the wedges, making it desired more than other materials.
Cork-soled wedges came back into fashion during the 60s and 70s as a part of the bohemian hippie style (think stereotypical 60s hippies and Woodstock). The wedges were higher than they were during WWII and usually included a platform, because every shoe in the 70s included a platform.
Today, cork wedges are higher and more intricate than ever. The majority of cork soled wedges are in the form of sandal wedges. These are great for dressing up during the summer. They keep your feet cool and are much easier to walk in than stiletto heels, thank goodness.
Cork-soled wedges are also popular in the closed-toe form, which gives a more sophisticated vibe to your outfit.
Here is some more style inspiration of how to wear cork-soled wedges.

Breast Reduction Surgery - Health Benefits And How To Know If You Need One
Although many women seek breast augmentation to increase their size by a cup size or two, just as many women seek breast reduction to reduce their size by a size or two. Besides this, breast reduction surgery has a variety of health benefits. Although many women are aware that breast reduction surgery is an option, they are unaware that breast reduction may be able to help them with some of their health problems. What Is The Problem? Many women who have large breasts endure pain in many parts of their bodies. The proportions of the body are frequently distorted by large breasts. This imbalance can put tension on various muscles and joints. With age, this becomes more difficult. The weight of the breasts pulls the shoulders forward naturally. Nerve fibres may be squeezed as a result of this. Women may have nagging, continuous discomfort as a result of the compression of nerves. What Are the Benefits of Breast Reduction? Breast reduction surgery can reduce the size and contour of the breasts, reducing the tension on the back muscles and spinal column. Many women see a reduction in back and even hip pain once they lose weight. Many women report a boost in self-confidence in addition to the physical benefits of breast reduction surgery. Many people believe that only small-breasted women have body concerns, but this is not true. Women with abnormally large breasts also have insecurities about their bodies. Having the physique of your dreams might help you gain the self-confidence you've always desired. Following their surgery, many ladies discover that they can finally exercise the way they've always wanted to. Because the weight of the breasts makes it difficult to move in certain directions, a woman's ability to work out as she likes may be hampered. How Do I Know Whether I Need a Breast Reduction? Consider breast reduction surgery if your breasts are large and they make you feel insecure. You may also have physical symptoms such as shoulder pain caused by your bra straps, which is a result of the bra supporting too much weight. Back and neck ache are additional symptoms that your body is trying to sustain your breasts' weight. Numbness in the hands and fingers, as well as headaches and, in severe cases, shortness of breath, have been reported by some women. Is Breast Reduction Surgery a Good Option for Me? Most women who are in good health are good candidates for breast reduction. There are a few things that could prevent you from having this surgery done. Schedule a consultation your plastic surgeon to see whether you're a good fit. Obtain started today by booking your consultation if you're ready to get the physique you've always wanted, relieve discomfort, and enhance your health.
Why Is Shampoo Bad For Your Hair? And How To Wash Instead.
Certain chemicals found in some shampoos can be harmful to your hair. While this is not a call to stop using shampoos entirely, it should make you aware that there are alternatives available if you want to pursue them! Having said that, what are some of the negative effects of shampoo? 1. It shortens the life of your hair. That's a fancy way of saying that if you use shampoo, you'll have to wash your hair more frequently, which sounds counterintuitive. Shampoos, in general, can leave a nasty buildup of chemicals on your scalp, which can wreak havoc on your skin over time. Your scalp will eventually become so saturated with these chemicals that it will do strange things like overproduce oils this is probably why my scalp is so greasy. 2. It causes frizz in your hair. This is particularly true for those of us who have curly hair. I know I don't look it based on my profile picture, but my hair can get pretty loopy if left to its own devices. I have noticed that it frizzes up significantly more after washing it with shampoo than when I leave it alone. 3. It will trap you in a viscious cycle. You'd like to stop using shampoo, but if you do, your scalp will go nuts producing oils, making you look completely ridiculous. Try waiting a couple of weeks, your scalp will calm down. Stay strong and don't give in to the urge and shampoo before that. If you want to get away from the shampooing craze, do this when you don't have to be seen in public for a good 2 weeks! 4. It's also wasteful. Using shampoo is apparently frowned upon in the “zero waste” community. This is because most people go through it quickly especially if you have longer hair, and as a result, you'll end up using a lot of plastic bottles. Shampoo alternatives are much more environmentally friendly, as you'll see in a moment. 5. It cannot be washed away. This is a little ironic. Shampoo removes almost everything from your hair except itself. Because your hair is porous, it absorbs whatever is in your shampoo like a sponge over time. You'll have hair loss issues if you use a cheap shampoo or one with chemicals that don't mix well with your scalp. The only way to truly remove the shampoo gunk from your hair is to use a super-strong shampoo designed specifically for this purpose, or to simply wait it out and let your scalp dispose of it naturally. What can you do now that you're aware of some of the negative effects of shampoo? 1. Use the “No-Poo” method. This method essentially eliminates shampoo from the equation. One of the simplest ways to start is to use a small amount of conditioner in your hair while showering instead of lathering up a wad of shampoo and conditioner every time you wash up. Conditioner is gentler on your hair than shampoo and should keep your scalp and strands moisturised without causing too much damage. 2. Use alternative scalp and hair cleansers. Apple cider vinegar can be used as a shampoo substitute. Some people seem to tolerate it better than others, as some have complained that the vinegar smell is unbearable, while others claim they don't notice anything. I suppose it all depends on the individual. In essence, apple cider vinegar acts as a natural conditioner. To combat any salad dressing-like after-smells, this blog suggests mixing two tablespoons of vinegar with water and rosemary. 3. Make use of natural shampoos. Those who said they had no luck with “no-poo” or apple cider vinegar reported success with natural shampoos. These are shampoos made entirely of natural ingredients, as you might expect. To find them, on online shopping sites (just type in "natural shampoos") is your best bet, though I'm sure your local Walmart has a selection of products like this as well. Labels, as always, should be avoided. Always read the ingredients on the back of the bottle to ensure that the shampoo you're considering is truly "natural." What do you have to lose by trying out this new anti-shampoo craze if you have greasy, frizzy hair? It appears to be working for many people, so it's worth a shot! Do speak to your hair specialist if you have any prexisting scalp issues.

How to Make the Right Choices in Indian Jewellery
Whatever be the occasion, the right kind of jewellery can accentuate your look at a whole new level. However, the search for that flattering piece of jewellery often seems like an uphill task. This seems even more daunting when one is presented with many options, both online and offline. You’re left spoilt for choice, as it still seems tricky to get a piece that matches your style statement. If you too face such a dilemma, then Indian jewellery is the way to go. With a vivid range of stunning options, we are here to help you make choices that are smart, trendy, and easy on the pocket. So read on to know about which piece to wear and when, as you next go jewellery shopping. The Pretty Choker Chokers are a great antique jewellery option for many occasions. Be it a wedding, a semi-formal gathering or an evening party, no other jewellery makes a statement as a choker does. However, the trick lies in carrying off the look with ease and elan. If you wish to pick a pretty choker that adds to your look, keep these in mind. a. If you have a long and slender neck, then you’re in luck. You can choose any style you like, and this jewellery will complement your look. b. If you have a short neck then its best to avoid large chokers, as these may make your neck look wide. Instead, opt for slender and delicate pieces. c. The fit of the choker is essential too. Avoid pieces that sit too tight or are too loose. Instead, measure your neck and get the choker adjusted to be 7cms more than the circumference of your neck. d. The shape of your face has a role to play too. While round faces may look rounder with a choker, an oval face is well complemented by this piece of jewellery. All-Occasion Indian Earrings The one piece of jewellery that goes with every dress and compliments you on every occasion is a lovely pair of Indian earrings. From the elegant and beautiful studs and loops, to elaborate Jhumkas and Chandbalis, there’s more variety than one can imagine. However, while choosing Indian earrings for a special occasion, do keep the below-mentioned aspects in mind. a. If the occasion is a formal one then opt for understated, classy studs or loops. Opt for contemporary designs that complement your outfit if you’re dressing for a party. Bring in the bling with elaborate pieces if you’re dressing for a wedding. b. If you have a round face, opt for long earrings, giving the illusion of length. Those with an oval face can opt for jewellery that’s wider at the base, such as teardrop-shaped pieces. c. Keep a check on the colour and material of the piece you choose to wear. Avoid bright plastic materials, instead, go for statement jewellery in traditional Indian styles to accentuate your appearance. Indian Necklaces & Bridal Jewellery You may have feasted your eyes on a vivid range of Indian necklaces and bridal jewellery. However choosing the pieces that suit your style and the occasion are of absolute importance. Before opting for a necklace or sets of bridal jewellery, do keep the following aspects in mind. a. From simple statement necklaces that complement the evening parties and dinner occasions to elaborate pieces that are more celebratory, the first aspect to consider is the occasion. b. Keeping your attire in mind while shopping for jewellery can help you create a harmonious look. Ensure that the length and design do not clash with the neckline of your dress. It could spoil the look. Keep in mind that the colours of your outfit complement the colours of the jewellery you choose to wear. c. Keep the length of the necklace such that it complements your best features. Opt for shorter pieces if you wish to flaunt your neck, while longer pieces can accentuate your collar bones. Whatever style of jewellery you choose, ensure that it reflects the kind of person you are. Rather than buying a piece that’s the in thing, please choose based on how it reflects your persona. So whether you are the jewellery minimalist or the kind who likes to go all-out, take your pick on what you like best. Do visit our website www.tarinika.com to check out our collection. 3 Korean Authors To Add To Your Reading List
I recently made a video about Haruki Murakami, and a few of oyu asked about some Korean authors you might like. Here are 3 and a half suggestions First is Kyungsook Shin, who I haven't read yet. She wronte "Please Look After Mom" which was a huge success internationally. She has had some scandals surrounding her though, because she plagarized a bit of her work from other authors... Now onto the authors I HAVE read! 1. Han Kang Most recently known for The Vegetarian, she writes in a creepy but realistic style. Everything that happens is believeable which makes it so much scarier. I'm about to read her historical fiction piece, Human Acts! 2. Chang Rae Lee I read On Such A Full Sea sometime last year and really enjoyed it. It takes place in a distopian society and is a really interesting look into how we interact with people around us! 3. Young Ha Kim I adore this author and if you're going to read anything on this list make sure you read Black Flower. It is about the true history of hundreds to thousands of Koreans being brought over to Mexico to essentially be slaves on plantations. Its a part of history I never knew about, and Young Ha Kim explains it in a really fascinating way. Have you read any of these authors?! Here are links to the books if you're interested in picking any of them up^^ Young Ha Kim BLACK FLOWER: http://amzn.to/2mltxHU I Have The Right To Destroy Myself: http://amzn.to/2m1fyGG Han Kang The Vegetarian: http://amzn.to/2lLKvOn Chang Rae Lee On Such A Full Sea: http://amzn.to/2m1jEyQ Kyung Sook Shin Please Look After Mom: http://amzn.to/2m1uXqs
Is A Breast Lift Right For You?
Our body ages as time passes. Breasts lose volume and fullness. They droop and make you self-conscious as a result of these changes. Continue reading to learn everything you need to know about a breast lift and the benefits you can expect. What Does a Breast Lift Entail? The breasts are lifted and firmed during a breast lift surgery. A lollipop incision is ideal for breasts that require a minimal bit of lift. If only the areola and nipple need to be elevated, a single incision around the areola can be used to obtain the desired effects. If your nipples and areola are below the level of the inframammary crease, you'll need a third incision to see results. Breast Lift Advantages A breast lift has numerous physical and psychological advantages. After significant weight gain or loss, many women notice that their breasts alter shape and sag. A breast lift can boost your self-esteem, which can improve your quality of life. Let's have a look at some of the physical advantages. Physical Advantages A breast lift has various physical advantages. Without augmentation, a breast lift can give you a larger appearance. This is due to the fact that the surgery makes your breasts appear firmer and larger. You can achieve a more youthful, renewed appearance by elevating your breasts. You can enjoy the results of your weight loss and feel proud of your successes and newly better physique by removing stretched out, superfluous, flabby skin and altering the location of the nipple. Is It True That I'm a Good Candidate? Your medical history will be reviewed by a cosmetic surgeon to evaluate if you are a good candidate for a breast lift. If your nipple and areola are located beneath the inframammary fold or the crease beneath your breast, you may be a suitable candidate for a breast lift. If your nipples appear to be pointing downward and you want them to face forward, you may benefit from a breast lift. Many women who have breast lifts are unhappy with how their breasts seem when they wear a bra. In a bra, a breast raise can make your breasts appear rounder, fuller, and more attractive. It can also treat asymmetry or a tuberous appearance of the breasts that may have developed since puberty or as a result of breastfeeding. If you're unhappy with the size of your breasts after your breast lift, talk to your doctor about a breast reduction or breast augmentation with fat. What Should I Anticipate? It will take a few months for your newly shaped breasts to settle into place after your breast lift. The benefits, on the other hand, are long-lasting. Your body will continue to age and be affected by gravity, but you will be able to enjoy the results of your treatment for decades. It is safe to nurse after a breast lift, although childbearing, breastfeeding, or gaining a lot of weight can make the treatment less effective. Maintain an active lifestyle and a healthy weight for the greatest outcomes.
Best Shaving Secret--EVER!
No doubt you've seen a bazillion tips, tricks and secrets to getting the best shave of your life! And like a lot of "hacked" information, you're lucky to see okay results with even half of the cool ideas. Here's ONE SECRET tip that will work and make you wonder, WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT?! You can purchase sugar scrub, which is really convenient or you can make your own. I like the Archipelago Botanicals Black Honey Sugar Scrub because it's relatively inexpensive, at $19 for eight ounces. The sugar scrub is the perfect base to gently exfoliate and remove dulling dirt, toxins and dead cells. Natural antioxidants and alpha hydroxyl acids work together to make skin look young and healthy. Gentle enough for everyday use. Recommended for normal and dry skin types. Why it works: The exfoliating sugar scrub is going to loosen and remove excess dead skin. It's also going to lubricate your legs for shaving. While it's easy to rinse off, it's also going to leave your legs feeling luxuriously smooth and sleek. Perfect for mules, which you see in the photo above. They're Mansur Gavriel mules, to be precise, which were recently unveiled in New York. This is the first footwear collection from the uber luxury bag designer. 15 fabulous colors to choose from! @jordanhamilton @kaminisingh @alywoah @TessStevens @mikayla @ChelseaHeyes @QueenYuki @KyotieWolf @kristenadams @Donnas @stargaze @flymetothemoon @ImUrBestFriend @galinda @Bekka @RaquelArredondo @jazziejazz @rmayra1 @prgurl4u2envy @DemiP @alannasofia @petname83 @TinaDang @dimplequeen @tiffany1922 @atmi @ZoilaObregon @brinJSN @CelinaGonzalez @JessicaChaney @Animaniafreak @CrystalBlunt @AliciaJaneth @NaraA @TurtleyTurtles @sherrysahar @raenel @CandaceJordan @LemonLassie @AprilNapier @peahyr @MyAffairWith @SarahRegulski @HappyLulie @GingerMJones @humairaa @yellowbug18 @reaper412
How to make a ring jewelry candle | Jewelry In Candles Rings
If you're looking for a way to make your home smell great, give jewelry candles a shot. These candles are made with real jewelry and actually burn down like regular candles. While they cost more than the regular run-of-the-mill scented candles you can buy at the store, they sure have an impressive visual effect that makes them worth it. This post takes us through all the steps involved in making your own jewelry candle and gives tips on how to get really creative with it. 1. What you'll need to make a jewelry candle To make a jewelry candle you'll need: candle wicks, votive holders, jewelry findings, jewelry, and essential oils (optional). To make a jewelry candle, you’ll need ingredients you can find at a jewelry store. The general ingredients are: Cotton (linen preferred, but hemp works as well) Eggs (colored varieties are greatest), Pellets or brick, Chaff Distilled white vinegar Freshly ground black pepper Oil These are the basic tools you’ll need to prepare the candles. It is recommended to invest in a candle maker for the process, as they make it a lot easier when applying the wax and other products to the candle. You can buy candles directly from jewelry stores or directly from cosmetic supply companies such as chemhalt — they make candle containers, handles, holders, and the like. Wire cutters, a small piece of cardboard, a tin can, and a knife are useful tools for cutting up candles for candles. To get started, take a wick from your jewelry store. For this jewelry candle, I used an ivory candle wick from Sally Hansen. Craft wax will usually work, but it’s probably a good idea to try wax candles if you choose to do so. Pellets and bricks should cost around $10 each, but if you can find them used, they’re probably not too expensive. You can also find candles pre-sterilized in jewelry stores. Next, you’ll need to find votive holders. I suggest purchasing gray votive holders because they’re easier to see your candle in the light. Next, you’ll need to find jewelry. You can buy jewelry at the jewelry from unrivaled candles, but it’s going to have to be colored. If you have a lot of pink jewelry, you can really use the candles to lighten up the room and make it feel more festive. 2. How to make a ring-shaped jewelry candle Ring-shaped candles are a neat way to make a candle that looks like jewelry. If you want to make one, you’ll need a candle mold, which you can get from unrivaled candles. It will give you the opportunity to make variations of the same ring shape that will fit nicely inside your candle mold. The jewelry candles we made had practical uses. One I made was a sort of travel mug that took up very little room. Another was meant to give off a warm ambiance in my office for cooking. First, you’ll need to empty your jewelry drawer. Then you’ll need clean, dry, and free of oils (unflavored) jewelry screws. And finally, you’ll need something that looks nice (preferably cotton). When used correctly, the jewelry screws will hold ceramic rods in jewelry molds and make the candle bigger and therefore better smelling. One way to clean your screw heads is with a cotton bud soaked in pink Master Cleaner (it comes in a can). You can also use a toothbrush dipped in it, but wire brush will also cause the jewelry to become powdery and you won’t be able to see the patterns that you’re creating or stain your fingers. Next, you’ll need to make your ring. As stated above, you want your beads to be wearable, not precious. These links will give you ideas for what kind of beads to use. You should be able to fit around 30–40 beads in your candle. Aside from choosing a distance between beads and ring, you may want to experiment with sewing or gluing the beads together. If you’re squirreling away in your jewelry drawer as little as I do, you’re probably bored of clicking pictures of plexiglass boxes and rings that look almost identical. To make your beads go in more easily, you can also use a special ring punch to punch them out. You’ll also need something to fill your candle with. 3. How to make a necklace-shaped jewelry candle If you're looking for a project to do with your daughter, or just for yourself, making a necklace-shaped candle is a fun project that can also be made in a variety of colors and styles. You can find all the materials you'll need at a craft store, and the project itself is pretty simple. You can use metal or plastic beads ornaments, ordinary household items, or jewelry. Beads can be purchased already made or otherwise perfected, and things can be salvaged that you may have discarded, like old locket pins, metal fish scales, ornaments from party stores, or even jewelry cut down to the right size or in the appropriate vintage settings.  The instructions for making your necklace candle are fairly flexible, and you can find extensive step-by-step instructions on the unrivaled candles website. The general steps are to cut the beads to size or to buy smaller versions of the beads you want.  You can make the candle factory scent or any of the pleasant scents like bay leaf or sandalwood. I opted for trying out a variety of real pieces of jewelry to scent. If you intend to just use a basic plastic beads jewelry box, you can find the instructions for making a jewelry box here. To start, lily of the valley scented candles are the way to go. Previously, I used beeswax candles with mixed results, so I was pleasantly surprised when I used a box of crystal jewelry beads. They are nice because they magnify the scent from your finger, creating an entire floral scent that goes well with the candles. You could also use real ball-peen hammers, moon balls, or stars as the candle-holder. 4. Making candles from other pieces of jewelry Ten years ago, I wanted to make a candle out of a ring from my jewelry collection. I thought it would be a fun project and a great way to re-purpose my old jewelry. I tried it and it worked. The result was a beautiful, personalized candle. I decided to make the same candle for my home to make it work better. I wanted it to last longer, look nicer, and smell like real jewelry. I didn’t want it to smell like replacement jewelry. I also didn’t want it to burn down like regular candles do, so I skipped the aluminum ring and went with sterling silver instead. To get started, I cut rings exactly the size and shape I wanted my candle to have! Then I decided on the design I wanted and the design I bought. I used hot glue to secure it to the metal ring. Before using the hot glue, I applied two coats of the wax of my choice. This includes Irish Moss, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel, and Loire Valley Rose. The wax flavor depends on the project or what you’re using it for. Now the fun part. If you have some jewelry already that you don’t need anymore, you can keep it or sell it. After all, you’re not trying to start a business here! I bought rings that repaired a hole I had in my finger. I also bought new earrings just because I thought they would fit better and look nicer in the candle. I sold my earrings after I made my jewelry candle. I used these rings as templates when cutting the rings for the wax candle. I taped them to the metal ring to keep track of where I was cutting. To attach the wax to the rings, I tried to be as accurate as I could. After applying the wax, I screwed in the metal bases to the rings and pressed the small screws into the top of the rings to secure. 5. Tips for making the best jewelry candles Making candles can be a fun and creative craft project. It’s also a great way to repurpose old jewelry you don’t wear anymore. Just melt down old necklaces and earrings, and then pour the molten metal into a mold to create a decorative candle you can burn and enjoy. The first thing you’ll need for making jewelry candle is jewelry. You can find jewelry melts easily online. you can search for a jewelry candle to see what is currently trending. There are tons of options, from traditional pieces like bandanas and medal charms to more modern pieces like earrings and bracelets. Once you have your metal, it’s time to find a gift idea for your loved one. There are so many ways you can show love for someone, from repairing an old broken engagement ring to simply buying them a beautifully-crafted jewelry candle that smells like their heart. What’s a way to give someone priceless as a surprise? While jewelry is an appropriate gift for many occasions, on Valentine’s Day, it’s especially sweet. You can use your existing jewelry collection to give the person a gift that will truly remind them of the special day. It will also make the person feel special. From necklaces to earrings, you can make dozens of look-alike gift items using jewelry melting wax. Fiddle with the sizing of the melted wax to get the perfect look and safety. Keep the gift wrapped in the original packaging and an unopened jewelry candle inside the gift box. Glue it to a small, square scrap of cardboard or envelope, and you’ve got a card they can use to proudly display their lovely gift to someone special. Some people make their jewelry candle permanent for extra love and care. It pretty much ensures the person who receives it is reminded of the special occasion from the moment they receive it.
