When it comes to who texts who first -- mustering up that courage and putting your pride to the side can be rather daunting.

As women, we have this voice in our head that tells us that we should be the one receiving the texts first. In all actually we patiently wait on our end for that perfect text message, when the guy we are waiting to text us first is more than likely waiting for us to make that move. It all comes down to being bold and letting your guard down.
Of course it can be hard to take initiative and make the first move when it comes to sending that text, but making the first move is attractive. Not only does it show the person that you're thinking of them, but it also allows them to open up a bit in hopes of doing the same the second time around.
If you've played the waiting game before than you know how stressful it can be when you want that person to text you, but they don't have a clue. Your first instinct would probably be to keep yourself busy and stop thinking about it, but of course that's easier said than done. It's like a huge balloon resting on your chest that expands a little more each time you receive a text from someone who wasn't Mr. Wonderful.
Think about it this way, if he's been on your mind all day -- more than likely, you've been on his mind as well. Guys also get shy and sometimes a text letting him know you're thinking about him or just checking on him can open doors to great opportunities in the future. No need to drive yourself insane. Humble yourself -- and send the text. He's waiting, just like you.

I'm a firm believer in "if you want to do something, just do it." (Thanks Nike) so I'm usually one to just send something without worrying. But at the same time I agree with @alywoah. If he's doing nothing, there's no reason for me to keep making the effort.
I do what I feel. When you go into your adult years, you realize you just need to do what you feel. When you start games, dating because a messy game. If I want to text a guy, I just text him. The worst thing that can happen is that he doesn't text back. However, if I feel like I am constantly initiating a text, I'll slow my roll.
Well you are a lovely woman with nothing to lose! You got this @jordanhamilton
I definitely feel you on the last sentence. If it gets to the point where I feel like I'm the sole initiator or he always replies with one word texts -- I will fall all the way back until he starts showing some initiation. In some cases, guys aren't texters, they prefer a phone convo, etc. So that's understandable, but sometimes it's nice for the guy to hit you first. But when it comes down to it, nothing wrong with a woman reaching out as well. @alywoah
I need to take after you because I always over think when sending a text @nicolejb
