In case it wasn't obvious, here are some examples of the Mets' ineptitude
Good morning, everyone.
The Mets are the worst.
The Mets have scored the fewest runs of any team in the league since May 2nd. Since that date, they've amounted just 192 runs - and no other team has scored fewer than 200.
The Mets have failed to hit a home run in 9 straight games, which is their longest such streak since 2011. In the past 14 days, Curtis Granderson is the only Met to have gone deep. Lucas Duda has not hit a home run since May. Wilmer Flores, tied with Duda for second on the team with 10 homers (Granderson has 13), most recently hit a dinger on June 12. After those three, no one on the team has more than 6 home runs.
The Mets have been shut out 10 times already this year. Last year, they were shut out 12 times total. The year before that, eight times. We just hit the halfway mark of the season this week, folks.
Bartolo Colon struggled again last night, and his season ERA sits at 4.46. If he could be traded, I'd take pretty much anyone. It's a crowded rotation, and Colon is looking like its worst pitcher.
Rumors suggest that Padres outfielder Justin Upton could be available via trade.

Upton's no world-beater, but he had a few good years with the Braves recently and I liked watching him play. He's a power guy, and even if he hits .270, if he can hit 15 home runs in the second half of the season, I'd take him in a heartbeat.
But, really, I'm not picky. GM Sandy Alderson just needs to make some kind of move. It's embarrassing.
