Zenkandoku.com, an online manga shopping site sell only complete sets of old manga series, has just revealed manga sales ranking for this year. Weekly Shonen Jump dominates the list. The most selling manga series in 2012 is "ONE PIECE" by Eiichiro Oda. ONE PIECE has continuously dominated NO 1 spot for 4 years since 2009 by selling over 280 million copies. According to the site, the selling of the movie "ONE PIECE Film 2" has been really good, and with "ONE PIECE Pirates Warrior 2" ( a One Piece related video games) coming this March 2013, its popularity will be soaring next year too. The no 2 best selling series is "HUNTERXHUNTER". Volume 31&32 of the manga have been released on December, 2012. And with "HUNTERXHUNTER"'s first movie - "HUNTERXHUNTER:Phantom Rouge" is scheduled to premiere on Janurary, 2013, it’s a series on the rise. The no 3 spot belongs to "Kuroko no Basket"which is very popular this year since the manga has been adapted to anime. After the first season, the anime will continue a season 2 in 2013. NO4 is a sport-themed manga series which has finished serializing for 16 years but still be read by now - SLAM DUNK. SLAM DUNK is the famous manga title which appears on almost every manga ranking lists by all generation. NO 5 spot belongs to "Space Brothers" by Chuya Koyama sensei. Yay for One Piece! I'm not surprised at all. One Piece has everything - fantastic story, exceptional characterization, hilarious antics, tragedy, growth, and action.
