Idols and Depression
Due to the harsh nature of the kpop industry, it is not uncommon for kpop idols to develop depression.
Here are a few Idols who have suffered from depression but have overcome it

HEECHUL -SUJU
After Hankyung’s leave, member Heechul became depressed especially. He lived in the same dorm as Hankyung and had a special relationship with him. He said, “I was in a big chaos. It was difficult for me to laugh on TV and dance on stage.” Afterwards, he did not go on stage including year-end award shows.
For 3 months, he lived in seclusion, locking his door. His only friends were two cats. Heechul revealed, “I had some lingering emotions. Since I didn't meet any people, depression got worse. I had lived with Hankyung, drank together and was really close. It was mentally difficult.”
His mind became comfortable after thinking, “when me and Hankyung do well we can meet each other.”
JOKWON -2AM
The happy virus of K-Pop, Jo Kwon! He always brings laughter and joy to those around him. “I was fearful because I didn’t know when I would be cut. I even suffered from depression during those eight years of training"
But he pushed through it and was able to rise above it. His determination and willpower is simply astounding and admirable.
TAEYEON -SNSD
This issue came up around the I Got a Boy era when Taeyeon outwardly admitted her depression
“After my schedule is finish, I return home and feel lonely and empty inside. I don’t know what to do about it,” she remarked.
KISEOP -U-KISS
"Before coming into U-KISS, I found my dream and had planned on following it. But wherever I went, the companies wouldn’t pick me and I always failed. I eventually gave up and went into 2 months of harsh Depression. I thought a lot about the possibility of suicide"

After watching her cry, I realized what I was doing…I was thinking about suicide and didn’t even go out to meet friends." "But after seeing my mom cry and try to make me feel better, I got back up. When Park Bom was growing up in the United States, she was an avid soccer player and dreamed of being a soccer star.
One of her best friends at the time died while playing soccer with her, shocking and depressing her.
She received psychiatric care for the trauma she experienced and was prescribed amphetamine drugs.
TABLO -EPIK HIGH
Epik High’s Tablo confessed about his state of depression which sparked a lot of attention.
Tablo, who has suffered from depression at a very young age, confessed, “Depression is integrated into my life.”
“I don’t know if I ever overcame it… I’m okay though, I’m not crazy.”
Tablo shared his thoughts on the topic of depression, “I think everyone in the modern world is depressed in some way.”
