Awesome TV Friendships That'll Make You Miss Your Best Friends
I totally missed National Best Friends Day, but in honor of my best friends coming to visit me in New York City this weekend, I wanted to write about some of the best friendships on TV. There are so many great, supportive and hilarious friendships on TV that remind me of my own and only make me miss my friends that much more.
Not only can they both do awesome impersonations of political candidates, but this duo has several hilarious sketches on SNL. Even better than their on-screen relationship is their offscreen one. I love when best friend characters are actually best friends in real life, it's so cute. From Baby Mama to hosting The Golden Globes, everything they do together is perfect.
It's very possible that JD and Turk defined the term "bromance". They've been friends forever, have a holiday dedicated to their friendship and they don't love anyone as much as they love each other (although JD says he loves Elliot more than Turk, I'll never believe it). Wish I could bring my best friends to work with me, look how much fun JD and Turk had for all nine seasons of Scrubs.
Abbi and Ilana are the best female friends on TV right now. They lift each other up (both literally and emotionally), consistently showering each other with support and compliments on Broad City. They take out the drama that we often see in female friendships on TV and replace it with a relaxed, fun friendship that is much more relatable than the back-stabbing, gossip-filled "friendships" we often see.
!!!! Probably the cutest best friends of all time. Cory and Shawn grow up together on Boy Meets World but they never grow apart, surviving relationships, marriage and even middle school. I just watched a compilation video of their best friend moments and I got little goosebumps because it's so cute.
I know a mother-daughter best friendship is a little unconventional, but with a mom like Lorelai, it'd be hard to NOT be her best friend. I've seen every episode of Gilmore Girls at least ten times, and Lorelai only acts like an authority figure like three times. That's because they've developed an awesome best friendship of mutual respect, and instead of arguing like most mothers and daughters, they watch movies, eat junk food and gossip like best friends.
