Rihanna continues to expand her reach in the fashion world. Last year we saw RiRi merge with PUMA to become a creative director for the global brand. Her connection to the brand breathed fresh air into the company instantly.
Rihanna was recently announced as contributing creative director for Stance Socks. Stance is the official sock provider of the NBA. The announcement is a surprise to most, as many assumed a light collaboration would be the extent of her connection with the company.
Rihanna signed a three year deal with the company which will allow her to not only star in campaigns, but design her own. The first full collection will arrive in the fall, but Stance has decided to release two pairs now to the masses. The crew socks are are limited edition, as only 1,500 pairs will be released worldwide. "I’ve had a great relationship with Stance for a long time and I am happy to be working with them on such a fun and creative project," Rihanna told WWD.
Stance seems just as excited as Rihanna for this new partnership. "This is a seminal moment for the sock category." said Stance socks rep Candy Harris. "She was incredibly hands-on from the initial mood boards and inception of the collection to the design process and ultimate the final campaign shoot," Harris said.
With collaborations with Puma and Stance under her belt in the past year, who do you think it makes sense for the superstar to link with next?
